A Dozen Crafts for 2012

12 Must Do Craft Projects for 2012
1. Get the craft supplies organized.
Don’t we all need to work on this?
2. Learn how to use the camera properly.
No point in owning that fancy Nikon if I don’t know how to operate it!
3. Reduce my fabric stash by half.
Right now my fabric consists of 3 shelves in a bookcase, a plastic tote, a basket, a diaper box, and 2 small piles. If I can manage to fit all of it into the one bookcase by the end of the year I’m sure Ant will be very happy. (Anybody have any creative folding ideas? ; )
4. Re-do everything in the “refashion” pile.
There are currently 2 boxes hanging out under my desk that are packed full of things that need to be re-purposed. I should probably get on that.
5. Sew more clothing. (and share the patterns with you guys)
There are plenty of baby and toddler items already on my to-do list, but it would be nice to make a few things for myself this year as well.
6. Make personalized sewing labels.
They are just so cute and would make me feel more legit. Plus if I’m making more clothes, they are going to need labels anyway right?
7. Splurge and buy some of the “expensive” fabric.
You know what I’m talking about. The cute stuff you keep adding to your cart online but never actually purchase. I might still only buy it on sale, but I’m gonna buy some. Finally!
8. Learn to make granny squares.
I already know how to crochet, but I’ve never made these. They are so cute though, I really should try.
9. Make a quilt. (the right way)
The last quilt I made took me 5 years to finish, and some bits were still a little wonky. There has to be a better way. Maybe I’ll even go really wild and make one for Reli AND one for the baby!
10. Knit a pair of socks.
I can knit, but I’ve never tried socks. Who wants to bet I make one, but never finish his match?
11. Makeover a piece of furniture.
Everybody else is doing it! I see tons of blog posts about how this ugly thing was turned into something awesome. Now I want a piece of that action.
12. Make a scrapbook.
I don’t care if it is for this year, Reli, the baby, our wedding, or either of our trips to Europe, but I really need to get started on something.

Do you have any fun craft plans for the New Year?

  1. I have not been here since last year! I missed your great blog!
I like your to-do list. This evening will sit and make my own – and I am sure some items will be the same as yours.
    Thank you!

  2. Hi Toni! Great list of things to accomplish . . . I should definitely make a list for myself! You asked about fabric folding. I redid my sewing room about 1-2 years ago, and have been really happy with this folding method. There are pics on my blog here: http://wp.me/phyoF-tI

    HTH!!
