Important Supplies Update for the My Little Pony Costumes

Twilight Sparkle and Spike the dragon children's costumes

For anyone who has been planning to make a My Little Pony costume for Halloween this year…

I just found out yesterday that Hancock Fabrics is discontinuing their Plum Berry shade of glacier fleece. Bwah bwah

Not gonna lie, I’m crushed. This is the color that I use when making both Twilight Sparkle and Spike the dragon, and I’ve been busy running to every shop in a 50 mile radius trying to stock up before it’s all gone. (Sorry if you live in the VA/DC/MD area. I’ve already cleared out the Gaithersburg, Alexandria, and Manassas stores. Try Fredericksburg – last I heard they had 10 yards left.)

According to the customer service woman I spoke to yesterday, there are still 300+ yards left in the warehouse, so you still have time to place an order online, but no one knows yet if there will be a similar replacement color in the future. If your little one has their heart set on being Twilight this year, this is probably a “better safe than sorry” situation unless they wont mind being Light Purple or New Purple instead. (or possibly Pink Flox from Joann’s, but I haven’t seen that one in person yet.) And just in case it might affect your other sewing plans, Mustard Gold and Hunter Green are also being discontinued.

Fleece colors for Twilight Sparkle costumes

So far I’ve managed to hoard roughly 60-ish yards in my own personal stash, so I may be able to help supply anyone who misses out,

but hopefully this little heads-up with give most of you a chance to stock up before the most magical purple finally disappears.

Good luck and happy sewing!

    1. Ha! And that's just in the one shade of purple! I've got at least 150 yards of fleece if you add up all the different colors. Let''s not even think about the other fabric yardage. Ant says at least there is no possibility of our family freezing to death in an emergency.
Ugh, don't remind me. I can't believe Corbin's going to be two (holy cow 2!!!) at the end of this month.
